A Little Joy

Jade's been missing for the past three days. You can't turn on the television without seeing her story. Seven years old, brown hair and eyes - absolutely adorable child. Who wouldn't want their little girl back at home, safe and sound.

She used to play in the sand at the corner park. Parents watching on and holding their own conversations with each other, it's a wonder more children haven't come up missing in this town. Sometimes I wonder how it feels to grieve the loss of someone. I've never had that in my life. No one to hold or call my own, I've often traveled to the park on weekends just to see those smiles.

It wasn't until early last month that I saw Jade. She was wearing a white dress with little pink flowers sprinkled throughout. She looked so happy. I thought about the joy she undoubtedly brought to her parents.

Watching the news, I can tell she is truly missed. Both parents have held numerous press conferences, pleading for sweet Jades' return. I feel for them greatly, but not enough to return their daughter. I too deserve a little joy in my life.
